Karen and Kerry to run new centre

Published 11 June 2008

The manager of the Rosehill theatre in Whitehaven is leaving to take the top job at Maryport’s Wave centre.

Karen Thompson is swapping her role as manager of the Rosehill to manage the new visitor centre.

Karen, 35, of Netherton, has been managing the Rosehill Theatre for around a year and said that only the challenge of opening a facility like The Wave in her home town could have persuaded her to leave.

“It is an exciting challenge,” she said.

Karen was brought up in Dearham and educated at Maryport’s Netherhall School. She completed a drama degree in Winchester and has worked in theatres throughout the country including the Shaftsbury and Lyceum in London.

Twenty jobs will be created at the new Wave facility, on land off Maryport’s harbour.
